Our History

Project Concern International has an established presence of over 40 years in the border area. In Mexico during 1973, Project Concern International opened Hospital Materno-Infantil de Project Concern and in 1982 a project that is now known as Medicina Social Comunitaria in the city of Tijuana . The BHI National City was established in 1996 as part of a border-wide demonstration project in community-based health promotion. The BHI Mexicali began operations in 2000, project BRO in late 2003, and the administration of Ventanilla de Salud was assumed in late 2004. In the California-Baja California border area, the BHI has implemented numerous projects to help vulnerable populations and immigrants since the 80's.
